Just Be - February'23
Group Art Therapy for Queer People
Service Description
JUST BE - Queer Group Art Therapy What is Art Therapy? Art Therapy is a combination of art and psychology and is a healing process that uses images, art media, and creativity and can be a wonderful tool to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Art provides a new language for the verbally challenged. Should I know Art to join Art Therapy? No. There are absolutely no prior art skills required. Art is only a means to express subconscious feelings which may be difficult to share. Images influence emotion, thoughts, and well-being, and how the brain-body reacts to the experience of drawing, painting, or other art activities clarify why art therapy may be effective with a variety of populations. Why This Workshop? The LGBTQIA+ Community is one of the most diverse and yet under-served in terms of psychological needs, this is partly due to the lack of awareness among therapists. As a Queer Affirmative expressive art therapy-based counsellor, I use expressive art to help Relieve stress-trauma-anxiety, Increase resilience, Improve self-awareness, and Gain clarity and focus. Join this group therapy session where we will be working on various specific themes over a period of 4 days (2 weekends) with various mediums to Just Be! Past Experiences!
